What We Do
Georgia Writers Association (GWA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that specializes in writing workshops and conferences to provide resources and connections throughout the writing community in Georgia.
At GWA, we:
present Writing Workshops and the Red Clay Writers Conference to connect and enrich writers and professionals from varying career points.
provide grants such as the John Lewis Writing Grants and LGBTQIA+ Literary Success Grants to promote writers in Georgia. These grants allow us to encourage, uplift , and emphasize marginalized voices in various Georgia communities.
house the Georgia Author of the Year Awards, hosted annually, to celebrate the best books published by Georgia authors.
host a weekly Substack column of content pertaining to multiple topics in the writing industry.
host the Georgia Writers Registry, which features talented writers and their work. If you’re a writer living in Georgia, you can apply to be listed on our registry, which then allows you to receive grant money for future events.
Be sure to join us for an opportunity to experience our informative workshops, events, or conferences listed on our website and social media accounts. We can’t wait to write with you.
