12:00-2:00 PM on Zoom
For next month’s workshop, we’ve got Stephanie Storey’s “Write Like an Actor.” The workshop will take place on Saturday, August 8th at 12:00 PM on Zoom. Register here to attend.
About the Workshop
Actors train for years to learn to create and embody full, rounded characters–finding the motivations, quirks, conflicts, gestures and points of view that truly bring imaginary people to life. Now you can learn some of the tools of the acting craft in a writer-friendly environment (no getting up on “stage”!) to help you improve your writing. Through a series of short lectures and writing prompts, participants will learn to write better dialogue, get in touch with their characters’ emotions, develop strong points of view, and choose character details that are specific and important.
Stephanie Storey is the author of the stunning debut, Oil and Marble: A Novel of Leonardo and Michelangelo. It has been translated into six languages and is in development as a feature film by Pioneer Pictures. Storey is also the author of Raphael, Painter in Rome which came out in the spring of 2020, and a TV producer of The Alec Baldwin Show on ABC, The Arsenio Hall Show on CBS, and the Emmy-nominated The Writers’ Room for Sundance. Storey is also a trained actor who has studied at acting and improv studios all over Hollywood.
