Events
For nine months of the year, the Georgia Writers Association hosts 2-hour writers workshops that focus on some aspect of the writing life: craft, finding an agent, publishing, marketing, and so much more. Past invited authors have included Anjali Enjeti, Sumita Chakraborty, Kerry Neville, and others. Our workshops are held at Elevator Factory, 437 Memorial Dr. SE, A-2, Atlanta, GA 30312.
Other annual events include the Georgia Author of the Year Awards (GAYA) and the Red Clay Writers Conference. GAYA is an annual award that honors authors published in the previous calendar year. The awards cover thirteen categories in both fiction and nonfiction genres. Each year, one winner and one finalist are selected from each category and announced at the GAYA banquet and ceremony. Additionally, the Red Clay Writers Conference is an all-day event that is comprised of multiple workshops that cover topics such as writing, marketing, and publishing.

“Secrets & Memory: A Workshop for Writers” with Dani Shapiro & Albert Flynn DeSilver

$149This workshop will go from 10:00AM – 3:00PM PST and feature bestselling author Dani Shapiro. Albert will welcome us, introduce the workshop, and share powerful “warm up” mindfulness and writing exercises. We will break from 12:00-1:00PM PST and then Dani Shapiro will teach on the theme of “secrets & memory” from 1:00-3:00PM PST.
