For nine months of the year, the Georgia Writers Association hosts 2-hour writers workshops that focus on some aspect of the writing life: craft, finding an agent, publishing, marketing, and so much more. Past invited authors have included Anjali Enjeti, Sumita Chakraborty, Kerry Neville, and others. Our workshops are held at Elevator Factory, 437 Memorial Dr. SE, A-2, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Other annual events include the Georgia Author of the Year Awards (GAYA) and the Red Clay Writers Conference. GAYA is an annual award that honors authors published in the previous calendar year. The awards cover thirteen categories in both fiction and nonfiction genres. Each year, one winner and one finalist are selected from each category and announced at the GAYA banquet and ceremony. Additionally, the Red Clay Writers Conference is an all-day event that is comprised of multiple workshops that cover topics such as writing, marketing, and publishing.

If you would like for your literary event to appear on the calendar, please fill out the form here. All submissions are subject to review and approval.

Mapping Your Writer’s Journey: A 7-Day Women’s Writing Retreat

July 7, 2019 - July 14, 2019

If you’ve struggled to find your voice, denied your long-held desire to fully express yourself through writing, then please join certified creativity coach, editor, and writer Gina Edwards in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains to explore and reclaim your dreams of being a writer.

Mapping Your Writer’s Journey is a 7-day women’s writing retreat where you will: — Renew and strengthen your connection to your muse. — Identify and break through limiting beliefs that keep you from calling yourself a writer. — Be heard in a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment. — Uncover your “why” for wanting to write. We’ll identify daily rituals to summon your muse and create a plan for a regular writing practice that will support and fulfill you for the rest of your life.

We’ll take daily walks as a group, many in silence, so you can hear your inner guidance and refill your creative well.

Even after our time together comes to a close, the transformative writing you will do, the relationships you will forge, and the reconnection with your soul will endure and will continue to provide you with creative momentum.
