For nine months of the year, the Georgia Writers Association hosts 2-hour writers workshops that focus on some aspect of the writing life: craft, finding an agent, publishing, marketing, and so much more. Past invited authors have included Anjali Enjeti, Sumita Chakraborty, Kerry Neville, and others. Our workshops are held at Elevator Factory, 437 Memorial Dr. SE, A-2, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Other annual events include the Georgia Author of the Year Awards (GAYA) and the Red Clay Writers Conference. GAYA is an annual award that honors authors published in the previous calendar year. The awards cover thirteen categories in both fiction and nonfiction genres. Each year, one winner and one finalist are selected from each category and announced at the GAYA banquet and ceremony. Additionally, the Red Clay Writers Conference is an all-day event that is comprised of multiple workshops that cover topics such as writing, marketing, and publishing.

If you would like for your literary event to appear on the calendar, please fill out the form here. All submissions are subject to review and approval.

Epic Pride YA Author Tour!

June 6, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Epic Reads Celebrates Epic Pride with a Pride-themed YA author meet and greet that is sure to delight! This event is open to the public but because this is an intimate gathering, space is limited to the first 80 people who RSVP with purchase of a ticket via our Eventbrite link on our website. Each ticket offers the choice of one of the books included in the price so please choose whichever book you are most excited about, you will still have the option to buy the other three books and have them signed if you wish. Parents/guardians need tickets to accompany teens inside. This event is geared towards young people but all fans of Young Adult literature regardless of age are invited to attend. All four books will be available for purchase and signing. The first 50 people through the door will receive a free Epic Reads Pride Bandana!

Charis Books is a fully wheelchair accessible space with on site van accessible parking, two ramps, and additional overflow accessible parking nearby. Most of our shelves are on wheels and can be moved to provide additional access. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral with motion activated fixtures. Both bathrooms have wheelchair accessible baby changing tables. Our directional signs are written in braille. Our events are mic’d for sound. We caption videos when we show them in the space. Free ASL interpretation is available for most Charis Circle programs upon request. Please email info@chariscircle.orgto request interpretation as early as possible. The space has all LED lighting. The space is not scent or chemical free but we do our best to minimize the use of chemicals and scents throughout the space and use low VOC materials whenever possible. If you have specific questions about the space or how an event can be made more accessible to you, please do not hesitate to contact us at
