For nine months of the year, the Georgia Writers Association hosts 2-hour writers workshops that focus on some aspect of the writing life: craft, finding an agent, publishing, marketing, and so much more. Past invited authors have included Anjali Enjeti, Sumita Chakraborty, Kerry Neville, and others. Our workshops are held at Elevator Factory, 437 Memorial Dr. SE, A-2, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Other annual events include the Georgia Author of the Year Awards (GAYA) and the Red Clay Writers Conference. GAYA is an annual award that honors authors published in the previous calendar year. The awards cover thirteen categories in both fiction and nonfiction genres. Each year, one winner and one finalist are selected from each category and announced at the GAYA banquet and ceremony. Additionally, the Red Clay Writers Conference is an all-day event that is comprised of multiple workshops that cover topics such as writing, marketing, and publishing.

If you would like for your literary event to appear on the calendar, please fill out the form here. All submissions are subject to review and approval.

Buena Vista Writers Workshop with Adam Vines (Poetry)

May 21 - May 23

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing high-quality authors to rural South Georgia. In 2021, we will offer four intensive, weekend-long workshops that feature prominent visiting authors as instructors.

Alongside the intensive workshop model, we offer community-focused classes that are the price of a donation, as well as a free public reading by the visiting author hosted by a local establishment. Each course differs in scheduling, so be sure to look at the specifics to see which course best fits your writing needs.
