The 2nd Annual Women and Success Contest
Larnette Phillips and Southern Storytelling Productions LLC is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Women and Success Contest.
Women and Success (Voices of Courage) is a book about women—and their courage in the face of a battle with cancer. Women wear many faces—and have many voices—and never has the courage of the human spirit been stronger than when faced with a life-changing report in a word called “cancer”. The prevailing courage of women, their lessons, their legacies—this is the focus of this powerful book.
Contest Rules and Guidelines:
Stories must be about a woman’s battle with cancer—it can be written by the woman experiencing cancer, it can be written by her spouse, her friend or a family member, and it can be written by anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer. Men are welcome to submit for this book. Tell us about her courage, her spirit, what she taught you—and teaches others—and if she has passed, tell us about the legacy she leaves behind. If the woman has passed, please include date of birth to date of death and give us (if possible) names of the family members she leaves behind.
A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to the fight against cancer.
Word Count: 2000 words (Maximum)
Entry Fee (per entry): $20.00 (US dollars)
Deadline: September 15, 2008
Please double-space the manuscript and give the author’s full name, address, current mailing address and e-mail address on the title page; please staple title page to front of manuscript. Please list word count in upper right hand corner of the first page of the manuscript and please place page numbers in the upper LEFT hand corner of each page. Your name should NOT appear on the manuscript—it should appear on the title page only. Please be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped 10x13 envelope with each submission with sufficient postage to cover the return of your manuscript (if necessary). Entries that do not include the SASE will not have their entry returned. If at all possible, please type your manuscript in Microsoft Word—winning entries will be required to submit an electronic copy after notification.

Winning Entries:
The Grand Prize winner of the contest will receive $150.00, ten copies of the book and publication in the book and a 20% discount on all books purchased.
All other winners will receive $50.00, three copies of the book, publication and a 20% discount on all books purchased.
Winners will be required to sign a written release stating acknowledgement and acceptance of all terms. The publisher uses only one-time rights to the book and once published, all rights revert back to the author.
Winners will be notified in late January 2009.
The book is scheduled for publication in Spring 2009.
**All entries who are not published will receive feedback and a critique (not an edit) of his (her) work with comments on how to better the author’s work and his (her) chances for publication.
