Dr. Timothy Crimmins 44th GAYA WINNER Creative Non-Fiction: Specialty Book Democracy Restored: A History of the Georgia Capitol, Dr. Crimmins is a Professor of History at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He teaches courses on historic preservation and urban history, which include field studies of Atlanta, southern cities, and European cities. In 1983, Dr. Crimmins became the founding director of the masters program in the heritage preservation program at GSU. He has helped train many of the historic preservation professionals practicing in Georgia today. His research on Atlanta history has appeared in exhibits at the Atlanta History Center, in an eight-part series on Atlanta Public Television, and in The New Georgia Guide and Stadt Bauwelt (1996). His book, Democracy Restored: A History of the Georgia Capitol, was published by the University of Georgia Press in May of 2007. |
