Walter VictorIn 2004, the Atlanta Braves dedicated a pre-game ceremony to their photographer, Walter Victor. Referred to as a living legend by Atlanta Journal-Constitution Sportswriter Furman Bisher, Victor is beloved by the Braves and their fans. He is the only photographer to be honored with a permanent camera well on Turner Field where a brass plaque bears his name, commending his forty years of service within the Braves family. Brave at Heart: The Life and Lens of Atlanta Braves’ Photographer Walter Victor is the story of Walter Victor’s years with the Atlanta Braves. The book includes over a hundred photos taken by Victor, including pictures of Ted Turner, Hank Aaron, Phil Niekro, John Smoltz and several on display in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Beginning with a short overview of his life, the book is a glorious memoir of his time with the Braves, peppered with anecdotal detail and richly illustrated through his photography. Also included are a variety of photos from other sports, including O.J. Simpson’s last run.
