Peggy Mercer Peggy Mercer has been a newspaper columnist for the Douglas Enterprise, a past contributor to national magazines and newspapers, and an award-winning, charter member of the Georgia State Poetry Society. She previously has been a member of the Georgia Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America and the Dixie Council of Authors and Journalists. After spending many years working for schools and public libraries in South Georgia, Peggy spent ten years teaching in the state’s adult education drug and alcohol behavior change program called “Prime for Life,” reaching more than 5,000 students in public schools throughout the South Georgia area. Currently, Peggy teaches in a private learning program called the Fish House, operated in her home in South Georgia. While tutoring young people, she continues to writes stories and books, poetry, and songs—one of her songs being featured in the "Songwriter's Connection" with Kim Copeland of Nashville, Tennessee. Peggy lives a Thoreau lifestyle and is surrounded by woods and rescued animals, including Walter the gopher turtle, Red Dog, and two cats.
