Man Martin GAYA WINNER FIRST NOVEL View Man's Award-Winning Book Below: Man Martin spent his formative years in Sandersville, Georgia, a town so small that the phonebook for the entire county, white and yellow pages included, was the thickness of a Superman comic book. He received his BFA in English from Georgia College where he won the Flannery O’Connor Writing Scholarship and met the woman who would become his wife. He went on to study graphic design at the University of Georgia, and from 1990 to 1995, he drew the syndicated comic strip, “Sibling Revelry,” for Universal Press Syndicate. He later earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Kennesaw state, and in 2007 he completed his Ph.D. at Georgia State. His debut novel Days of the Endless Corvette was also his dissertation. Days of the Endless Corvette has met with warm critical reaction and was chosen by Western Kentucky University as its One Campus, One Community, One Book selection for 2008. His work has appeared in The Kenyon Review, McSweeney’s Online, The Alaska Quarterly Review, and elsewhere. He currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia and teaches English and coaches debate at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain. |
