Cathy Kaemmerlen
Cathy Kaemmerlen is a professional storyteller/actress/historical interpreter/author known for her variety of one-woman shows, her creatively artistic approach to storytelling, her narrative non-fiction history books, and her rapport with audiences.

Performing for over 30 years, she has done literally thousands of solo in-school performances throughout the country, using her dance and theatre backgrounds to enrich her tales and bring her characters to life, and her writing skills to craft her varied stories and shows.

A performer and "creator of shows" since she can remember, going back to a highly imaginative childhood, she has been a recipient of a choreographer's fellowship from the S.C.Arts Commission/NEA and individual artist's grants from the California Arts Council, Wisconsin Arts Board, and the Georgia Arts Council.  Her history shows have been noted as, “The best way to make history come to life for anyone.”

A Hambidge Fellow, she is currently on the Touring Arts Roster of the
Georgia Arts Council; National Storytelling Network Source Book;  National Women's History Project national listing at www.nwhp.org.; SouthernArtistry.org listing at www.artistsweballiance.com; approved Artists Roster of the South Carolina Arts Council and the Fulton County School Arts  Program at http://www.fultonart.org/pro/scharts. In metro-Atlanta, where she lives, she books her 28 different touring shows through Young Audiences of Atlanta, Inc. and received the first outstanding artist's award through them.Cathy, as an author/playwright, wrote an adaptation of IN OPAL’S WORDS and LITTLE WOMEN.  She was a contributing day diarist to THIS DAY IN THE LIFE:  documenting June 29, 2002 in the lives of women all over the U.S.  She has two books published with THE HISTORY PRESS, entitled:  TALES OF SHERMAN AND THE GEORGIA BELLES (how Georgia women stood up to 60,000 invading Yankees) published in late 2006 and THE HISTORIC OAKLAND CEMETERY OF ATLANTA: SPEAKING STONES (stories of some of the 70,000 buried at the historic cemetery) published late 2007.Cathy holds an MFA in dance performance and choreography from the University of Wisconsin and a B.A. in English/Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina. She is the proud mother of three talented children and the wife of the very intelligent, hard working Alphagraphics printing business owner, Robert Gaare.
