For the Movie in Your Mind
There is an interesting new website you might want to check out! Authors and their fans come to the website and think about movie casting together.
Storycasting.com is a free website just for readers (and authors) who want to "cast" the movie. It's called, and it's "for the movie in your mind". Readers select works, choose favorite characters, and then plug actors into the roles from an online roster of current stars. All castings post on a common page for that work, and the "consensus favorite actors" gradually bubble to the top. Plus, there will be lots of comments and opinions, and we're adding a "friends" function. It's clearly a social networking kind of thing, but more like fantasy football - for books.
The site is dedicated to making connections between books and movies, between authors and readers that have never existed before. The authors we've already contacted have been very excited to "have their say", and to learn what their fans think about the characters they have created.
Storycasting.com has just finished beta testing and they are going live to the public in late April. About the time it goes live, the sponsors of storycasting.com would like to have Georgia authors come on the site and cast their works. Then Georgia Authors can tell their faithful readers to come and cast, too. Site managers hope that it will become normal, long before the "Director's Cut", to have the "Author's Storycast", and a great consensus cast from the fan base.
There are plans to extend beyond literature and genre fiction to include short stories, plays, poetry, and "graphic novels" - they're all stories, and they all create a movie in the mind of the reader. For more information contact Jeff Reid at www.Storycasting.com "For the movie in your mind".
