However sad it may be, it is an undeniable truth that for a writer, his/her computer is his/her very best friend. We have a relationship. Every morning it greets me, "Good morning, Pamela." And, I greet it back, "Good morning." We are both cheery after that. But, as with any relationship, we have had our rough spots. We've gotten angry at each other. I'm the verbal one–I'll yell and scream. My computer just gives me the silent treatment and shuts down, which really ticks me off. I really lost control the last time it did that to me and I threatened to put it in the driveway and back over it with my car. We have made up since then, but the other day my computer insulted me beyond all. We are best friends in spite of our ups and downs but I truly don't know if I can forgive what it did this time. I work hard as an author; it is a tough field. Friends are supposed to encourage friends…aren't they? Well, I had written something of which I was particularly proud. I saved it in my writing program and my computer flashed me with an obnoxious warning which said, "Unknown Author." My own computer called me an unknown author! Does it just expect me to accept this and go on? Not this author! I'll prove my computer wrong. I will forge ahead, even stronger, until all desktop screens claim me as a known author!
