A Misnomer-Writer's Block Yeh, yeh, we’ve all had it. I can complain as loud as the next person. "I have the dreaded writer’s block!" But, what is that anyway? I think it’s a misnomer. The real problem is, there are days when I am just too busy to write. That’s a better excuse for a serious writer than admitting, I have a "blockage". I do not want to admit I have "writer's block", I just have important things to do that take precidence. One of those important things came up not too long ago when I was forced to put the writing aside. My kids were walking around nearly naked for lack of clean clothes. Laundry is more important than my writing career. Like the laundry, my writing was piling up. I admitted to a friend that I had hit an all-time low when instead of writing, I decided I simply could not go another day without polishing my silver. It had not been polished in years and Christmas is coming. My friend thought she was being cute when she joked, "Next thing you will have to do is clean your chandelier!" Ahhh! But the joke was on her ! I cleaned my chandelier before the laundry had ever gotten out of control! Well, back to writing… as soon as I bathe the pig! (Really, I have pig ... His name is Bradley!) |
