Liz Bowles![]() Atlanta, GA Elizabeth Bowles is a student of the human condition, wielding the written word to enrapture the mind much as an artist wields a brush. Bowles, who was born and reared in Charleston, was a teacher for many years before becoming a professional writer, and has worked on staff at a major newspaper in Georgia. An author, poet, playwright, and director, Bowles has had many of her short stories, poems, and articles published. Though sight-impaired, this seventy-year-young, fiery redhead manages to write and publish with the help of special computer software. Her debut historical novel, Mamie and the Root Woman, published in 2006, a story about a black woman who lost her legs at the hands of the Klan, is powerful with Voodoo magic, love, miscegenation, and the triumph of the human spirit. http://www.elizabethbowles.com/Biography.html |
