It’s been a long time since eighth-grade Georgia history, though not quite that long since I visited the ruins of Fort Frederica on St. Simons. I remembered vaguely the Battle of Bloody Marsh (1742) but not Mary Musgrove, or Coosaponakeesa, and I was delighted to make the acquaintance of such a clever and resourceful woman so important to the history of our state. |

Relationship books, for the most part, are bought by women. Women who think their partner could use some advice mark pages and ask the clueless one to read them. Others leave the book around, hoping the significant other will pick it up out of curiosity and turn to the appropriate bookmark. This rarely works. Try opening a book at random. If you see large blocks of type, you might turn to a page with more “white space” or graphics. |
